Introducing: sca uk brewers cup

Glasgow’s Biggest Coffee Party is almost here! A celebration of roasters, baristas, producers and of course, delicious coffee, we’re so excited to welcome you all along.

Within our wonderful coffee community, we know there’s more than a couple of you with a competitive streak! As such, we’re holding two across the weekend: Best Roaster UK, which you can read more about here, and the SCA UK Brewers Cup.

Designed to show off the manual filter coffee brewing skills of some of the UK’s most talented coffee folks, GCF will be your only chance to see this competition in 2026!

Judged on their ability to extract incredible flavour through rigorous recipes and precise methods, our 14 competitors will take part in a compulsory round testing consistency with provided beans, and an open round showcasing personal coffee and brewing methods. Judges will be looking for exceptional flavour, aroma and balance, seeking evidence of both technical skill and coffee knowledge.

While there are all sorts of ways to enjoy coffee, competitions like the SCA UK Brewers Cup are designed to elevate the standards of speciality coffee, while highlighting the incredible craft and hard work of each competitor.

Competition Format

So how does it work? The SCA’s 2026 UK Brewers Cup Championship follows the 2025 World Brewers Cup Championship (WBrC) rules.

On Day 1

8th Apr (Open Service), each of the 14 entrants will perform a 3.1 Open Service

On Day 2

12th Feb (Finals), the highest-scoring 6 competitors from Day 1, will perform a 3.1 Open Service & a 3.2 Compulsory Service.

This year, the SCA is welcoming the Mahlköning EK Omnia as their grinder provider.
