Meet The Team - Stacey - Events Manager

It’s time to meet your Glasgow Coffee Festival team, and what a team it is! First on the list is our Events Manager and Programme, Stacey! No stranger to Glasgow Coffee Festival, Stacey is in charge of bringing you the very best cafes, roasteries, bakeries, artists, speakers and much more!

Get to know about Stacey and her role right here!

What’s your name, and where are you from?

Hiya, I'm Stacey. I'm originally from Aberdeen (by way of London, Glasgow and Bute) and I'm currently an honorary Buddie living in Paisley.

What does a typical day with GCF look like for you?

Up early for a coffee, a bit of exercise and fitting in uni reading (I'm studying a Masters at the moment) before getting ready, breakfast, then being at my desk or the local library with my laptop where I spend the day answering queries, talking with our lovely exhibitors, and doing a lot of planning, updating spreadsheets, and organising!

What's your favourite cafe/roastery in Glasgow/Scotland?

I've been an OG fan of Dear Green from day one and even took some photos from the very early days at Aird's Lane.

For cafes, it's hard to pick, there are so many great ones (and always worry about leaving people out unintentionally!) - at the moment, Outlier, Cottonrake, Gatehouse in Paisley - anywhere relaxed that can offer me a delicious decaf.

What's your favourite thing about Glasgow Coffee Festival?

Having everyone get together to celebrate and promote the strong community Scotland has for speciality coffee.

I really like striking up conversations with visitors, finding out what they are enjoying and what their favourite coffee of the day has been. There's such a positive atmosphere during the weekend; it's a lot of fun, and I just like walking around the hall and soaking it all in.

Are there any vendors/speakers you're particularly excited about?

I'm an open book and excited to chat with everyone, tbh! Hopefully I will have time to pop into a latte art workshop or hear from our many excellent speakers as I love that element of the festival: providing learning opportunities, provoking discussion and ideas - as well as sampling everything our exhibitors have to offer, of course.

Aside from coffee, what are your passions?

Whilst I've not had a lot of time lately, I do love getting my backpack on and heading out for a day of walking, handbuilding ceramics, lifting heavy weights, and I made a resolution this year to go to more gigs, so I hope that comes to fruition!

If you could have coffee with anyone, anywhere in the world, who would you choose, and where would you meet?

I'd have a flask that keeps to the right temperature and never cools down (a dream!) and it would take place in Scotland, maybe along the Moray or Fife Coastal Trails on a windy and clear day. The coffee would be enjoyed on a welcome sit-down after a morning of walking and it would be with my nieces after I finally persuaded them to have a day outdoors with their ol' Auntie.

What tunes are you adding to the festival playlist?

I've been on a big Robyn listening binge lately, so anything from her exquisite back catalogue (roll on the new album).

Pet Shop Boys have also been on rotation, especially Always On My Mind.

NTS shows that fall under the House / Techno banner have been the soundtrack to my working days, so any shows with Moxie, Shy One, Louise Chen, or Olly Chubb will have guaranteed goodies.

Thank you to our team and to our fantastic industry partners: La Marzocco UK, Dear Green, Mossgiel Organic Farm, Story Shop, Jaguar, Eureka, BWT UK, 2GoCup and The Social Hub.
